Aechmophorus elasson is an extinct grebe from the Miocene and Pliocene of North America. Smaller than the living Western Grebe (A. occidentalis), it inhabited freshwater lakes. Known from fossil material from California and Nevada, it represents an early radiation of the Aechmophorus grebe lineage before the modern species were established.
