Alca is a genus of auks (family Alcidae) containing one extant species — the Razorbill — and numerous extinct species. The extinct Great Auk (Pinguinus impennis) was the only flightless member. Fossil species from the Miocene through Holocene document the radiation of Alca-type alcids across the North Atlantic. The genus represents a long evolutionary lineage of seabirds.
Diet & Feeding
Alca was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
