Alca olsoni

Alca olsoni

Alca olsoni is an extinct auk from the Pliocene of the Canary Islands, Spain. Named by Sanchez Marco, it represents a southern Atlantic form of the Alca lineage that inhabited the subtropical Atlantic waters near the Canary archipelago during the Pliocene. Its presence there documents a formerly wider distribution of auks into warmer Atlantic waters.
