Aletornis nobilis is an extinct gruiform bird from the Eocene (~50 Ma) of Wyoming, USA. One of several Aletornis species from the Green River Formation, it was a rail-like wading bird of Eocene lakeside habitats. The Green River Formation preserves an extraordinary diversity of Early Eocene birds during a key period when modern avian orders were rapidly diversifying.
