†Andalgalornis steulleti is the type species of this phorusrhacid terror bird from the late Miocene of Argentina. Standing about 1.4m tall and weighing roughly 40kg, it had a proportionally enormous, laterally compressed beak ideal for striking. Discovered in Andalgalá, Catamarca Province, its skull biomechanics have been studied using finite element analysis.

Andalgalornis steulleti was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
