†Andrewsornis abbotti is the type species of Andrewsornis, an early phorusrhacid terror bird from the Eocene of Patagonia, Argentina. One of the oldest known terror birds, it provides crucial data on the initial radiation of this flightless carnivore lineage that dominated South American grasslands and open environments for over 60 million years.
Diet & Feeding
Andrewsornis abbotti was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
