†Anhinga hesterna was an extinct darter bird (family Anhingidae) from Argentina, related to modern anhingas. A piscivorous aquatic predator, it possessed a long sinuous neck, sharp bill for spearing fish, and reduced waterproofing allowing diving. Its fossils document the deep evolutionary history of darter birds across South America.
