†Anisolornis was an extinct large cursorial bird from Miocene Argentina, tentatively assigned to the terror bird lineage (Phorusrhacidae) or related groups. A flightless carnivore, it inhabited open Patagonian habitats during a period of major South American faunal diversification. Its fragmentary remains provide limited but valuable data on Miocene avifaunal composition.
Diet & Feeding
Anisolornis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
