Dracovenator regenti

†Dracovenator regenti ('regent dragon hunter') is a large dilophosaurid-grade theropod from the Early Jurassic Elliot Formation of South Africa. Estimated at ~6 m, this carnivore possessed cranial crests and serrated teeth suited for catching prey. As one of the largest Early Jurassic predators from southern Africa, it sheds light on theropod diversity across Gondwana.
