† Grallistrix geleches — an extinct Hawaiian stilt-owl with reduced wings and elongated hindlimbs. Flightless nocturnal ground-predator; carnivorous hunter of small vertebrates in Hawaiian forests. Went extinct when Polynesian settlers arrived ~1000 CE, bringing rats and causing habitat destruction.
Diet & Feeding
Grallistrix geleches was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
