† Gyps melitensis — an extinct Pleistocene vulture from Malta (Melita) and Greece. Large scavenging carnivore; close relative of Gyps fulvus (griffon vulture). Mediterranean island vulture fauna included endemic or endemic subspecies. G. melitensis became extinct during the late Pleistocene or Hol.
Diet & Feeding
Gyps melitensis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
