Muriwaimanu tuatahi is an extinct early Paleocene penguin (Sphenisciformes) from New Zealand, ~60 Ma. Already flightless and wing-propelled when diving, it shows that penguin origins trace to shortly after the end-Cretaceous mass extinction.
