† Palaeeudyptes was a genus of giant extinct penguins (Sphenisciformes) from Chile. Piscivorous seabirds of the Eocene, they represent among the largest penguins known, with estimated heights exceeding 150 cm. Their discovery illuminates early penguin gigantism in the Southern Ocean.
