† Palaeeudyptes antarcticus was a giant Eocene penguin (Sphenisciformes) from New Zealand. A piscivorous seabird estimated at roughly 150 cm tall, it inhabited frigid southern waters. Fossils provide key insight into the early evolutionary diversification of the penguin clade.
Diet & Feeding
Palaeeudyptes antarcticus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
