Palaelodus gracilipes

† Palaelodus gracilipes was an extinct wading bird of the family Palaelodidae from the Czech Republic. A carnivorous Miocene filter feeder, its gracile limb elements (gracilipes = 'slender-footed') distinguish it from stouter relatives. Fossils document European flamingo-lineage diversity.
