† Palaeogyps prodromus was an extinct New World vulture (Cathartidae) from the Miocene of the United States. A large obligate carnivore-scavenger, it soared over North American open landscapes. This early condor relative illuminates the evolutionary origins of American vultures.
Diet & Feeding
Palaeogyps prodromus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
