† Palaeotodus itardiensis was an extinct tody or kingfisher relative (Todidae or Alcediniformes) from Germany. A carnivorous Eocene bird inhabiting European riparian woodlands, it may represent an early member of the tody family prior to their restriction to the Caribbean.
