Traversia is an extinct flightless wren from New Zealand, closely related to the living rifleman. This small ground bird inhabited dense forest undergrowth on Stephens Island until the arrival of cats and rats caused its rapid extinction.

Traversia was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
