Analong chuanjieensis

†Analong chuanjieensis was a sauropod dinosaur from the Middle Jurassic (~170 Ma) of Yunnan Province, China. A large quadrupedal herbivore, it was named from the Chuanjie Formation. Part of the rich Middle Jurassic dinosaur fauna of southern China, it contributes to understanding the early diversification of sauropods in Asia before they spread globally during the Late Jurassic.

Analong chuanjieensis was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.

Analong chuanjieensis lived during the Jurassic Middle period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 174.7 to 161.5 million years ago.
