<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="ducula-lakeba"></dinofyi-dinosaur>†Ducula lakeba is an extinct imperial pigeon from subfossil deposits on Lakeba Island, Fiji. This large fruit-eating columbid inhabited Fijian tropical forests before its extinction following human colonization. Its discovery documents the formerly richer pigeon fauna of the Fijian archipelago prior to Polynesian and European contact.
Diet & Feeding
Ducula lakeba was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
