Ducula lakeba

†Ducula lakeba is an extinct imperial pigeon from subfossil deposits on Lakeba Island, Fiji. This large fruit-eating columbid inhabited Fijian tropical forests before its extinction following human colonization. Its discovery documents the formerly richer pigeon fauna of the Fijian archipelago prior to Polynesian and European contact.
