Dendroolithus microporosus

Dendroolithus microporosus

†Dendroolithus microporosus is a dendroolithid egg oöspecies from the Late Cretaceous of Mongolia, distinguished by notably small pore canals in the eggshell. This microstructural feature may relate to reduced water vapor conductance, possibly an adaptation to arid nesting environments in Late Cretaceous central Asia. Attribution to titanosaurian sauropods is generally accepted.

Time Period

Cretaceous Late Mesozoic Era

Dendroolithus microporosus lived during the Cretaceous Late period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 100.5 to 66.0 million years ago.

The final age of dinosaurs, featuring iconic species like Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, and Velociraptor. Dinosaurs reached their peak diversity before the catastrophic asteroid impact at the Chicxulub crater ended the Mesozoic Era.
