Alectrosaurus

Alectrosaurus

†Alectrosaurus is a tyrannosaurid theropod from the Late Cretaceous (~80 Ma) of the Gobi Desert, Mongolia. A medium-sized tyrannosaurid about 5-6m long, it was a bipedal carnivore. Named by Gilmore in 1933 from initially confusing material, it is one of the earlier-known Asian tyrannosaurids. Its find contributed to understanding the Asian origins of the tyrannosaurid lineage.
