†Arcovenator was an abelisaurid theropod carnivore of the Late Cretaceous, discovered in Spain and described in 2014. A bipedal apex predator of Gondwanan affinity found in European deposits, suggesting island-hopping or land connections between southern Europe and Africa during the Late Cretaceous. Its skull bore the characteristic deep orbits and rugose cranial ornamentation of abelisaurids.
