†Asiahesperornis bazhanovi is the type species of Asiahesperornis, a Late Cretaceous hesperornithiform diving bird from the Bayzhik Formation of Kazakhstan. A flightless, foot-propelled piscivore inhabiting the shallow Tethyan seas of Central Asia, it was a medium-sized aquatic predator with toothed jaws. Named in honor of Kazakh palaeontologist V. A. Bazhanov, it extends knowledge of Late Cretaceous hesperornithiform distribution.
