†Daspletosaurus torosus is the type species of Daspletosaurus, a large tyrannosaurid from the Oldman and Judith River Formations of Alberta. Estimated at ~8 m and 1,800 kg, it contemporaneously shared habitat with the smaller Gorgosaurus. Bite-mark evidence on ceratopsian bones indicates D. torosus actively preyed on large horned dinosaurs.
